Closing Words from Edge 1
Over the past few days Campers have been able to participate in various games like staff hunt, steal the bacon, conquest, and ultimate frisbee. As cabins they also creatively made their own skit for the variety show. The climbing tower and zip line saw most campers go where they have never gone before and push their limits so that they could soar! Crafts, archery, boating, fishing, gaga ball, 9-square-in-the-air, the pool, and volleyball were all activities well-visited and participated in during the week.
Worship this week was led by a band from Memphis, TN, from a place called the Visible Worship College.Their passion for music and lifting up their praises to our Creator was infectious to the entire camp. Our speaker this week was Steve Mann from Hershey. A man who has had his own history with struggles but finds himself today in pursuit of Jesus and passionate for his word and relating his story to young people. Our Jesus Walk finished the week off. This year a series of monologues from bible characters whose lives were directly transformed because of their encounter with Jesus showed the true power and meaning of what Jesus did for us on the cross. The adulterous woman, the bleeding woman, Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of Jesus, Nicodemus, Peter, Barabbas, the woman at the well, the travelers on the road to Emmaus, and John the Baptist were all people they heard from! The campers were then asked to follow Jesus. There was an amazing response and the cabins talked for a long time about what it means to be a follower of Christ. Later that night, there was a campfire with a reflection time. Here is what some of the campers had to say.
God is limitless!
I have the opportunity to learn so much more about Jesus that I never had before.
Even though I'm not perfect I can lean on him and I need to lean on him.
God is confident in me!
I can be transformed and be with Christ even though I'm a sinner.
I feel like I'm always at home at Kenbrook! My faith is always renewed when I come here.
I have been given the chance to get close to God again.
Kenbrook has helped me with my walk of god.
God died on the cross and forgave us for being horrible.
I was moved by the talk about Jesus' crucifixion, and the fact that he did something so horrible for all of us!
I felt so much love from everyone and from god.
I learned that I am beautiful and God made me in his own image and nothing can change that.
I found out that I'm not alone and other people go through the same things I go through.
God has opened my eyes on how to live.
God has a plan for each and everyone of us, just because we make a wrong decision doesn't mean gods plan is not going to be fulfilled.
We deserved to be on that cross.
I was able to do things I never thought I would do because my counselors and the staff helped me to do them.
I loved the entire experience from getting to have fun in a Justin Bieber skit to learning how Christ died for us.
I never had a real relationship with god, but Kenbrook has helped me build one!
We had a blast with your kids! Thanks for entrusting them to us for a week! They are all great young men and women! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to have Christ transform their lives through us!
